The M4 carbine is a family of firearms that was derived from earlier carbine versions of the M16 rifle, which was in turn derived from the original AR-15 rifle that Eugene Stoner designed and ArmaLite made. The M4 is a shorter and lighter variant of the M16A2 assault rifle, with 80% parts commonality.

Magazines
The M4A1 is able to use a variety of different magazines to store its 5.56mm ammunition. Currently there is no difference between magazines except their capacity and visual appearance, so it is always best to use the magazine with the highest ammo capacity. All magazines take up 2 vertical slots in the inventory, unless otherwise specified.
